General Information

Description

We will solve and comment on 4-5 math problems in every class period to:

Ø  Stimulate children’s interest and enthusiasm for problem solving;

Ø  Broaden their mathematical intuition and develop their “brain power”;

Ø  Introduce them to interesting and important mathematics ideas;

Ø  Let them experience the satisfaction, pleasure, fun, and thrill of discovery associated with creative problem solving.

Expectations and Goals

By using reasoning, pattern, picture or diagram, list, table, or working from backward, children can apply the strategies and skills they learn to solve problems.

Course Materials

No textbook required for the class. The instructor will prepare the problems for the class and homework.

Course requirement

Follow the instructor, focus on the problem, and be ready to volunteer. You will be given 4-5 problems homework, bring them back for grading next time.
